The Voice:
My Journey
From the moment Chris Cobb stepped onto The Voice Australia stage, his soulful voice and heartfelt delivery captivated audiences across the nation. His Blind Audition performance of Cold Chisel’s classic “When the War Is Over” earned him a four-chair turn — a history-making moment as the first Papua New Guinean artist to ever achieve this on the show. All four coaches praised his tone, authenticity, and storytelling, with with all four coaches pitching hard to have Chris join their teams.
Chris chose to join Team Ronan, Chris quickly became a fan favourite, admired for his humility, warmth, and powerhouse vocals.
In the Battle Rounds, Chris went head-to-head with the incredible Mitchell Dormer performing Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses.” The duet was electric — both artists delivered show-stopping vocals that brought the judges and audience to their feet. Ronan called it “perfect,” but when he chose Mitchell to move forward, Chris was saved in spectacular fashion by three coaches — Richard Marx, Melanie C, and Ronan himself. In a dramatic twist, Chris made the bold decision to switch to Team Richard Marx, a move that left Ronan (and fans) stunned!
Under Richard’s mentorship, Chris continued to shine in the Knockouts, performing “In the Stars” by Benson Boone — a hauntingly emotional rendition that showcased his vulnerability and soul. His heartfelt performance earned glowing praise from the coaches and solidified his place as one of the standout vocalists of the season.
In the Final Showdown, Chris closed his Voice journey with “The Flame” by Cheap Trick — a soaring, passionate performance that encapsulated his artistry, power, and heart. While his time on the show came to an end, he left the stage with immense gratitude and a nation of supporters celebrating his ability to deliver songs with feeling.
