About CHRIS

From humble beginnings

From the banks of the Bulolo River in rural Papua New Guinea to the bright lights of The Voice Australia, Chris Cobb’s journey is one of heart, faith, and pure determination.
Growing up in the small gold-mining town of Bulolo, music was Chris’s constant companion. With no stage, no fancy gear, and no plan beyond the love of singing, he’d spend hours listening to country songs drifting through the old two-way radios and learning guitar from his uncles. Those moments by the river, surrounded by nature and the sounds of life in PNG, shaped his deep connection to storytelling through song. It was there that the dream was born — a quiet hope that one day, his voice would reach beyond the valley.
In Papua New Guinea, Chris became known for his soulful voice and ability to connect with any crowd, performing across the country at major events and festivals. His reputation grew not from fame or flash, but from heart — the way he could make an audience feel seen and understood. His performances became a celebration of both his culture and his gift, blending traditional rhythm, acoustic soul, and heartfelt melodies that transcended boundaries.
In 2022, Chris made a life-changing decision — to leave behind a stable corporate career and pursue music full-time. A year later, he relocated to the Sunshine Coast, Australia, determined to start again from scratch. With his guitar in hand and his family by his side, Chris began performing wherever he could — busking at markets, playing open mics, and slowly building a new community of supporters who connected with his warmth, humility, and undeniable talent.
Then came 2025 — the year the little boy from Bulolo’s dream came true. Chris stepped onto The Voice Australia stage and delivered a powerful performance of “When the War Is Over” by Cold Chisel that earned a four-chair turn and a standing ovation. He began on Team Ronan, delivered an unforgettable battle duet of “Bed of Roses” with Mitchell Dormer that saw all three coaches — Ronan, Richard Marx, and Mel C — hit their save buttons to keep him in the competition, before moving to Team Richard for the knockout rounds. His performances of “In the Stars” (Benson Boone) and “The Flame” (Cheap Trick) showcased not just his voice, but his emotion, faith, and the heart of his story.
Beyond the show, Chris’s live performances are where his true magic shines. From singing to 15,000 fans at the Digicel Cup Grand Final in Port Moresby (at the invitation of Prime Minister James Marape), to sharing the stage with Ronan Keating in Singapore, and performing for Federal MP Andrew Wallace’s Sunshine Coast Community Awards Night, Chris continues to captivate audiences big and small.
Now carving out his space in the Australian country music scene, Chris’s sound is a blend of his journey — part country, part soul, with touches of Aussie rock and heartfelt storytelling. It’s music that feels like home, no matter where you’re from.
Grounded, grateful, and driven by faith, Chris remains a humble family man who sees his success as a platform to inspire others. He hopes that his story reminds every young boy sitting by a river, anywhere in the world, that dreams are worth chasing — and with faith, hard work, and heart, even the most impossible ones can come true.
