Chris 'Sese'Cobb
Making waves as one of the Sunshine Coast’s freshest new faces, Chris Cobb is quickly becoming known for his soulful voice, warm energy, and unmistakable presence—often spotted wearing his signature kangaroo leather cowboy hat. Whether he’s performing at a bustling market, a private event, or simply busking by the beach, Chris brings heart, humour, and an easy connection that resonates with audiences everywhere he goes.
Born in Bulolo, a country town nestled in Papua New Guinea’s Morobe Province, Chris’s earliest musical memories come from listening to country legends over the two-way radio and watching his uncles play traditional PNG string band music. Those early sounds shaped his deep appreciation for storytelling, raw melodies, and the power of music to bring people together.
His professional journey began as the lead vocalist for PNG’s beloved Barike Band, where he spent five formative years (2008–2013) touring and performing. In 2022, Chris took a bold leap—leaving behind full-time corporate work to commit entirely to the music industry. Since then, he’s performed as a solo artist, run a small talent agency to support emerging PNG musicians, and focused on building a career that’s both meaningful and creatively fulfilling.
In 2023, Chris moved to the Sunshine Coast with his family. What began with open mic nights—his first at Maleny Lane—quickly led to regular bookings across the region. From Eumundi Markets to The Boatshed at Cotton Tree, and everywhere in between (including surprise spots like local bakeries and beachfront busking), Chris has become a much-loved part of the local live music scene.
While Chris has a deep desire to remain rooted in grassroots venues—where conversations and community are part of the performance—he also delivers high-end shows for corporate events and weddings, always tailored with professionalism, soul, and style.
His reputation has earned him features on Hot91FM’s Artist Spotlight, performances at Woodford Folk Festival, the Festival of Small Halls, and an upcoming appearance on a major Australian TV show, set to air in late 2025.
Now stepping into a new chapter, Chris is diving deeper into original songwriting. His upcoming album blends his cultural roots and lived experience with the country influences that shaped him—a sound that’s as heartfelt and grounded as the man himself.
